The book of Daniel has fascinated readers for thousands of years. Its dramatic stories, visions and prophecies have both amazed and puzzled those who have sought to understand them. Many are confused or even intimidated by the book of Daniel, thinking it is too complicated to be understood. That’s a real pity because the truths in Daniel’s story have the power to transform our lives today. Not only that, the prophecies in Daniel predicted both things that have come to pass and events yet to come. They can tell us what to expect in the future.
This series of Ancient News Broadcasts from Adventist World Radio acts as a guide to understanding these ancient writings. They bring to life the book of Daniel through a succession of 30 BBC-style radio episodes. The idea is to tell the story of this Hebrew-captive-turned-Babylonian-statesman in a month through short, daily news bulletins.
Each Ancient News Broadcast episode features a studio-based announcer as well as a Babylon correspondent who reports from the field, describing events as though they are taking place in real time. Each turn of the biblical narrative of Daniel is brought to life as the episodes progress.
The news format helps the listener imagine the events, prophecies and wisdom shared in the book of Daniel in a different light. It breaks down complex stories and ideas into bite-sized chunks so they are easier to relate to and comprehend. Every effort has been made to remain true to the original biblical narrative while bringing the book to life through this unique format.
This series was designed to be shared far and wide. The audio files allow for phone evangelism and can easily be sent to friends. They can be posted to social media pages, WhatsApp groups and other chat or group messaging services. Each episode is only a minute or two long so you can listen to one a day on your way to work or curl up for a listening binge when you have more time.
The radio broadcast episodes were created to spark an interest in the Bible narrative of Daniel’s life and compel the listener to dig deeper. There’s an invite at the end of every episode to do just that by signing up for a Bible study which will go into more depth on the lessons and prophecies of the book of Daniel.
